Should you attend a church service?
The answer is an emphatic yes. The bible encourages us to come together to pray, to praise and to worship the Lord. The word of God in Hebrews 10:25 says that we are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but we are to exhort one another, and so much the more as we see the Day approaching.
Hearing the word of God is important because the bible says in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The body needs food for its sustenance and the soul needs the Word of God. Do not starve your spirit man from the word of God. You need faith because without it you cannot please God and for faith to grow you need to keep hearing the word of God.
Finding the right Church
Finding the right Church can seem a daunting task, particularly if you are determined to be part of a church that worships the Lord in Spirit and Truth. You may have second thoughts and a sense of insecurity as to whether you have indeed identified the right place.
Below are a few steps that you can take prior to seeking out the right church for you:
Pray: Ask the Lord to lead you to the right church, where His word is taught as it is. The word of God says that we are to ask and we shall receive. So ask without doubt concerning this matter and the Lord will lead you to the correct place.
Don’t be quick to decide: Once the Lord has led you to a place make it a point to persevere and do not give up easily. Keep attending the services regularly for at least a month before taking a decision. Many times it is necessary for us to spend some time in a place before we get accustomed to the environment and the people.
Opportunity to grow: When selecting a church also pay attention to the different programmes that are organized. You cannot mature as a Christian without knowing the word of God and so it is important that the church you select has a programme that allows for intensive study of the word.
